Hong Kong Coastal Trail Challenge 2023/24 will be organised on 15 November 2023 to 15 January 2024. Virtual racing is organised this year so simply pick any day in the period. 3 distance options: 15km Harbourfront Run, 25km Hill Run, and 65km Coastal Run. In each category, prizes are awarded to three runners who clock the fastest time.

Start Point: Hong Kong Observation Wheel at AIA Vitality Park
End Point: To Tei Wan Bus Stop, Shek O Road (Hong Kong Trail Section 8)

Are Hong Kong’s famous green hills calling your name? Then you’ve come to the right place! The 25km Hill Run takes you on what must be one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world; you’re in for some steep climbs and a real treat. From the urban jungle of the eastern side of the island, up the ‘Dragon’s Back’ and down along the trail, the city seems miles away. The trail offers sweeping views of grassy mountains and stunning Shek O. This race ends at To Tei Wan Bus Stop, Shek O Road. The faster you finish the race, the better!

Note: Due to landslide and fallen trees, part of Hong Kong Trail Section 7 and 8 is temporarily closed for clearance and maintenance. The 25km Run route has been altered, starting from Hong Kong Observation Wheel at AIA Vitality Park to To Tei Wan Bus Stop, Shek O Road.

This flat section of the Hong Kong island Coastal Trail offers constantly changing views of Victoria Harbour and iconic landmarks along the way.

65km Coastal Run One Go

Start Point: To Tei Wan Bus Stop, Shek O Road (Hong Kong Trail Section 8)
End Point: Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir Dam

Fancy (re)discovering the city’s abundant history, heritage, greenery and, of course, its scenic shores while challenging yourself? The 65km Run One Go is for you! This marathon-and-then-some is a great way to test and improve your stamina. The run will take you on a long loop around Hong Kong Island. From easy to moderate in difficulty and from steep, remote mountain climbs to flat urban harbourside paths, the Hong Kong island Coast Trail offer something for everyone to enjoy!

Note: Due to landslide and fallen trees, part of Hong Kong Trail Section 7 and 8 is temporarily closed for clearance and maintenance. The 65km Run route has been altered, starting from To Tei Wan Bus Stop, Shek O Road to Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir Dam (an anti-clockwise loop).

General Tips

Please start early in the day to avoid walking in the dark, bring a head torch and wind jacket if necessary.
Please bring your octopus and sufficient amount of money during your journey.
Please make sure your phone is with sufficient power. Bring an extra phone or power banks with you if necessary.
Please be aware of the weather, and take preventive measures such as sun protection when necessary.
Please bring enough food, snacks and drinks.
Please pay attention to road safety, obey road rules and pay attention to the road conditions.
Stay hydrated! Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
